I have been a patrol for the AA since 1982 soon after finishing my apprenticeship (workshop life not for me).

I joined the AA race team in 2001.Still a active member because I find it very rewarding, hard work at times but great fun all the same .We have experienced some of the best race circuits in Europe and had great success at them as well which has given the team quite a boost to see our work getting results.

My hobbies are classic cars, I have 3 at present 1967 MGBGT, 1952 Sunbeam Talbot DHC and rebuilding a 1953 Sunbeam Talbot Alpine. When I get time I play tennis and league tenpin bowling.

Andy Gaj

My name is Andy Gaj (pronounced Guy). I’m aged 47 and live in Poole Dorset. I have been with the motor industry since leaving school in 1974 where I was apprentice and trained with Renault Marquee I then moved on to work with Fords and became a technical specialist with Cosworth Marque in the early 1980’s which lead myself into the route of motor sport working with British touring cars saloon product and even national car tracing teams.

I joined the AA organisation just over 3 years ago employed as patrol working in west London and thought my life with motor sport would be over, to my surprise I was informed that the AA had been recently involved with running a team in the Historic F2 class throughout Europe. I joined the team in early 2003 after a vacancy was advertised. I was quickly involved and made to feel welcome by all the team members.

My past experience includes race preparation for my son’s slot car racing activities, following all forms of motor sport, fishing and a new venture into jet skiing. I enjoy the team spirit and everything about atmosphere that has surrounded the team since joining, this alone outweighs all the hard work that every individual puts into the team and not forgetting the enormous support by the families.
