At the November 1968 Turin Salon, a 33 Stradale concept by Bertone signalled a genuinely new direction for supercar design. With its daring wedge shape featuring a frameless windscreen,
scissor doors and slatted rear bodywork, the Carabo was named after the bright green beetle that inspired Bertone's choice of colour. Reflective VHR-Glaverbel safety glass was chosen on account of its strength and lightness. This was one of the great concept cars, a bold but functionally valid vision of the future.
