For 1974 chassis 2342 was sold to Marcello Gallo who continued to race it over the course of the next two years, most notably winning his class at the Imola 1000km that year. By the time of 1974's Vallelunga 2 Hour race, he had repainted 2342 in the distinctive tricolour livery it wears today. Results during his tenure included:

At the end of the 1975 season, chassis 2342 was retired from serious competition and in 1979 it was sold to a US collector who retained it until 1995. At this time it was sold to Alan Foster and Bill Hohnhorst who in turn sold it to Walter Dethier. The current Belgian owner acquired the car in 2006 and immediately embarked on an extensive refurbishment programme in preparation for that years Le Mans Classic. Since then, chassis 2342 has been kept on the button and used in a number of track sessions. More than capable of outperforming Porsche's venerable 911 RSR and the Ferrari Daytona Competizione, De Tomaso's Pantera Gr.4 is perhaps the ultimate GT racing car from the early 1970's. Of the 13 genuine factory built Gr.4 Pantera's, none has a better record in top flight endurance racing than chassis 2342. It is sold with a small spares package. |
