By mid 1957, construction of 250 GT bodywork was still taking place at the same Grugliasco facility, but the firms name had been changed to Ellena following Mario Boano's move to FIAT as head of their styling department. Mechanically and chassis-wise, these Ellena-period 250 GT's were all but unchanged, the most notable alteration being made to the bodywork. With a slightly higher roofline, the 250 GT now provided more headroom for driver and passenger. This move in no way impeded the original Pinin Farina lines though and standing anything other than side by side, the Boano and Ellena 250's are almost impossible to tell apart.

Meanwhile, although production versions were still built from steel with alloy for the hood and boot, the first example to receive coachwork by Ellena (chassis 0679 GT) was originally clothed (we believe) wholly in aluminium. But other than for that aforementioned increase in roof height, aesthetic changes were few while the interior was also predominantly unchanged from earlier production versions. Construction of the Ellena fabricated 250 GT's ceased in mid-1958 to make way for the 250 GT Pinin Farina ‘Notchback’, production of which would return to Pinin Farina after the necessary expansion to their Turin plant. Ellena-built 250 GT's were in production for around twelve months during which time some 47 steel-bodied examples were completed (after that aluminium-bodied prototype). The chassis numbers of these 47 vehicles are listed below:
