Retaining the same bodywork and interiors as fitted to Series III 250 GTE's, these hot 330 America's arrived late in 1963 and came boasting Ferrari's 4-litre, 300bhp, Tipo 209 engine. This was the engine that would get used in the GTE's successor (the 330 GT 2+2), this car eventually being unveiled in January 1964. The Colombo derived Tipo 209 60° V12 featured a displacement of 3967cc thanks to a bore and stroke of 77mm (up from 73mm) x 71mm (up from 58.8mm). Compression was set at 8.8:1 and three twin choke Weber 40 DCZ or DCL carburettors fitted, output rising by a huge 60bhp over the outgoing GTE that officially had just 240bhp

With these 330 America's producing 300bhp at 6600rpm (some 400rpm less than the 250 was redlined at), performance was absolutely superb, top speed approaching 150mph 0-60 taking just 6.6 seconds. The fastest ‘GTE’ of all then, with only 50 examples constructed, it was also the most exclusive.
