GTS & GTB Turbo's
As they had done with the 308 GT4, GTB and GTS, Ferrari produced a special home market 328 that could negate the tax penalties imposed on vehicles with a displacement of more than two-litres. Designated GTB and GTS Turbo's, the most fundamental changes were unsurprisingly focused around a new engine. Displacement was 1991cc thanks to a bore and stroke of 66.8mm x 71mm, output peaking with an impressive 254bhp at 6500rpm. Whereas 208 Turbo's had used KKK turbochargers, these new 328-based cars used an IHI unit running at 1.05 bar of boost.

Earlier 208 Turbo's had used just 0.6 bar, this drastic rise in boost pressure being facilitated thanks to the use of new ceramic-coated cylinder liners and a Behr intercooler. Compression of the Tipo F106 N engines was set at 6.5:1 while Bosch K-Jetronic fuel injection was again used. Performance was extremely impressive with a top speed of 157mph and zero to sixty taking less than six seconds. The only visual differences between these two-litre Turbo's and regular 328's were their NACA ducts positioned just in front of each rear wheelarch, redesigned engine covers (in order to accommodate that Behr intercooler) and a ventilated rear bumper. Inside, other than Turbo scripting on the dash and a boost guage on the main console, the tax break models were also unchanged. Introduced in early 1986, the GTB and GTS Turbo's were produced alongside the three-litre, normally aspirated 328's until their demise in late 1989. However, the two-litre Turbocharged versions remained in production for a little longer, 308 GTB's and 828 GTS's eventually being completed.
