Series II 410 Superamerica's used a chassis that had its wheelbase reduced by 200mm over earlier incarnations. Curiously though, the type designation remained unchanged as 514. Lampredi's V12 engines were almost identical to earlier 410's, the motors installed in these Series II cars being identically designated as Tipo 126. However, some 1957 cars were producing an extra 20bhp (360bhp) thanks to hotter camshafts and carburettors. Meanwhile, nearly all 410 Superamerica's were unique in their detailing and Series II's were no exception. |
| Internal and external differences could be found on cars produced as part of a batch, namely the Pinin Farina-designed Coupe bodies that followed a similar theme to the 12 Series I's. Of the six short wheelbase Series II's, four were bodied along fundamentally similar lines by Pinin Farina, one being designed and built by Scaglietti while the other was a custom Pinin Farina creation for Jan de Vroom. The Scaglietti car, chassis 0671 SA, was a one-off built for Dr. Ettore Wax and subsequently disappeared until being discovered in Oregon during the late 1970s. Now fully restored, the Scaglietti design incorporated two 50-litre fuel tanks and hot Weber 40 IF4C carburettors on a specially tuned engine. 0719 SA, the Pinin Farina Speciale, was exhibited at the Paris & Turin Salons of 1957 having been commissioned by Jan de Vroom. It bore some resemblance to the 1956 Superfast I (0483 SA), however, de Vroom's stunning machine was marginally cleaner thanks to the absence of outlandish fins. Only six Series II's were constructed, the chassis numbers of which are listed below:
