A handful of additional Daytona's were prepared to Competizione specification, five of these six cars having involved Luigi Chinetti, the North American Ferrari concessionaire. Two were prepared by Sport Auto of Modena, another two by Traco in California while the fifth, chassis 15965, was a unique Michelotti GTB/4 lightly prepared for competition by NART themselves. The sixth period Competizione was built by Ecurie Francorchamps in Belgium. Thanks to their ex-Ferrari concessionaire status and period competition histories, all six can be considered almost semi-works and should in no way be confused with GTB/4C replicas.
