Only 235 De Tomaso Deauville's were manufactured between 1971 and '85, production being split between the Series I and more luxuriously equipped Series II examples. The late Series II Deauville offered here has to be among the very best anywhere in the world. Finished in Nero Black with Naturale leather and contrasting Black carpet, it also received the chrome-delete option and was fitted with De Tomaso's 330bhp version of the Ford 351 Cleveland engine (many being simply equipped with standard 240bhp motors).
Supplied through official De Tomaso importer, Emilia Concessionaires at Silverstone, chassis 2148 was first registered on September 20th 1983 to Mr Philip Conrad Marks of Leith Mansions, Maida Vale, London. Precisely two years later (20/09/85), ownership was transferred to Resource Evaluation of Berkley Square, Mayfair. On October 1st 1987, chassis 2148 left London when it was sold to D.J. Birchall Ltd. of Mildenhall, Suffolk. Mr Birchall's estate retained the car until March 13th 2010 at which point it had covered a mere 61,722km. It remained in incredibly original condition having never been or needed to be restored.
Since its acquisition by the current vendor, chassis 02148 has been subjected to an extensive mechanical overhaul costing over £9000.00. Offered in absolutely superb condition in every respect, this matching numbers example has been described by the De Tomaso Drivers Club UK technical advisor as "the best unrestored Deauville in existence". With only one other Deauville known to be on the road in the UK, it represents an exceedingly rare opportunity to buy a fully sorted right-hand drive example in the best possible colour.
