B+B pioneered the German-led custom coach and tuning of premium brand high performance European motor cars in the mid 1970’s. Picking up the slack after the demise of many traditional coachbuilders in the 1960’s, B+B were not performing back-street customisation, rather bespoke remanufacturing for the wealthiest customers of all.

In many cases, the final price paid for a complete B+B conversion was more than double the cost of a standard model, but counterintuitively this seemed to broaden the appeal to mega-rich buyers for whom money really was no object. B+B offered custom bodywork, interior and mechanical combinations, all of which were suitably enhanced over anything that was coming out of the Porsche factory at the time.

This stunning car, chassis WPOZZZ93A0070474, was invoiced from the Porsche factory on Februay 2nd 1980 as a standard German-market Grand Prix White 911 Turbo. It was sent straight to B+B in Frankfurt and upon completion reputedly graced their stand at the Geneva Salon having undergone a considerable upgrade programme as you would expect of a car to be displayed at the most important motor show of the year.

The exterior featured B+B’s 935-inspired flat nose with Porsche 928 headlight treatment. There were also re-profiled rear wings and doors that featured an engine cooling scoop, a new front spoiler and partial body-coloured rear spoiler. Painted Pearlescent White with silver Turbo graphics, it rode on 15-inch BBS racing wheels.

The cockpit was equipped with heated electric Recaro Sports seats trimmed with leather bolsters and Pascha fabric centres, a white leather B+B steering wheel and state of the art 16-speaker stereo. Mechanically it was enhanced to produce around 370bhp, the finished car costing comfortably in excess of double the list price for a standard 911 Turbo.

Chassis 0070474 is understood to have been sold to a member of the House of Al-Sabah, the Kuwaiti ruling family. Thereafter, it spent most of its early life residing in the underground car park of a prominent London hotel before being officially registered in the UK by its second owner on August 16th 1984.

Thereafter it went though two more owners prior being sold to the fourth and most recent custodian on May 1st 1987 at which point the odometer was reading 17,000km. Today this truly exceptional motor car has covered a mere 22,000km and is offered in very good cosmetic and mechanical condition throughout. An unrepeatable opportunity.
