www.QV500.com - Lamborghini 350 Part 3: 350 GTS

Having already created the production Coupe, Touring of Milan were the obvious choice to convert a pair of open-topeed GTS variants. The first of these two-seat Spyder's was chassis 0325 which was displayed at the Paris Salon in 1965 (pictured left). Unveiled on the Touring stand, interest was sufficiently high for a second example to be made on chassis 0328. This car was sold to its lucky first owner featuring a good-looking custom hard top. With flush rear decks, frameless doors, redesigned seats and an immaculately unobtrusive hood when lowered, the 350 GTS was an elegant car that should have been put into limited production to compete against Ferrari's 275 GTS, the Maserati Mistral Spyder and Aston Martin's DB5 Volante, all of which it could have comfortably outperformed. As it happened though, only two were originally built.
