www.QV500.com - Lamborghini Countach Part 6: Countach 25th Anniversario

Officially unveiled at the Sant’ Agata factory during September 1988, the Countach 25th Anniversary was the first Lamborghini to be launched since Chrysler's take-over. Put into production because the American manufacturing giant were unhappy with the design of its successor, the Anniversary was little more than a Quattrovalvole in drag. Visual changes came in the form of a redesigned carbon fibre front bumper with various brake-cooling ducts and a pair of supplementary Carello driving lights, these lending last-of-the-line variants a fresh new look.

Side skirts were taken from the 1988 model year QV while, for the first time, the American-spec rear facia was fitted as standard to all cars. Other radical changes at the back included an all-new rear bumper (the first of its type) while smoother sail panel cooling vents increased airflow to the engine. Anniversary's also got new forged OZ Racing two-piece alloy wheels shod with the latest Pirelli P Zero tyres. Subtle interior changes saw a pair of redesigned electrically-operated seats, a more efficient air-conditioning system and electric windows (although these could still only be lowered by around three- inches). Lamborghini’s last 25th Anniversary was completed in July 1990 after 650 had rolled off the production line in little more than two years. This meant total Countach production rose to an impressive 1997 units in all its various configurations between 1974 and 1990. The King was dead.
