www.QV500.com - Lamborghini Diablo Part 2: Diablo Roadster Prototype |
![]() |
Completed in early 1992, Lamborghini's unique Diablo Roadster Prototype made its debut at the Geneva Salon that March. Displayed as a fully operational concept, this exciting project was unfortunately shelved soon afterwards. As a result, Lamborghini customers had to wait until December 1995 before getting the chance to order an open-air Diablo; the VT Roadster. Being slightly more practical, mainly thanks to a removable targa-top, the VT Roadster attracted considerably more customers than this hardcore speedster prototype ever would've done. |
| Featuring a reinforced chassis with carbon inserts to strengthen the windscreen pillars and door gussets, the waist-high Roadster Prototype had a remarkable presence enhanced by acidic metallic yellow paint with body coloured wing mirrors and wheel centres. Modifications included a cut-down wraparound windscreen, streamlined headrest extensions, smaller sail panel air extractors, re-profiled rear wings and a heavily vented rear deck. Quite simply one of the most desirable Lamborghini's ever. |
