www.QV500.com - Lamborghini Diablo Part 4: Diablo VT Zagato 'Raptor' |
![]() |
Completed in early 1996 and shown that March in Geneva, the unique Diablo VT by Zagato was a spectacular one-off built to showcase the Milanese firm's coachbuilding prowess. Causing a great deal of interest, not least because chassis P06 was fully operational, a small batch of these cars should have been manufactured. As it turned out, the first Zagato-bodied Lamborghini for thirty years remained a tantalising one-off. Fabricated from a mixture of aluminium alloy and carbon composite, the Raptor featured a wacky one-piece cockpit that was hinged at the front. |
A detachable double bubble roof offered a choice of either Barchetta or Berlinetta configurations while, like the outside, the interior was comprehensively redesigned. Finished in Corfu Blue over grey alcantara, the Raptor went onto star at the Pebble Beach Concours and Mexico City Motor Show, its whole look aping those futuristic concepts from the late sixties and early seventies. With that sports prototype appearance and incredible hinged cockpit, this was perhaps the zaniest Lamborghini ever. |
