| Other interesting features were carbon fibre trim inserts, a numbered plaque on the gearshift and Alpine embroidered headrests and floormats. Outside, flashy chrome wheels used gold plated fixing screws while there was an adjustable colour coded rear wing fitted to every example. The carbon theme continued outside with composite finned air intakes, light surrounds and engine covers. While most Alpine Diablo's were constructed on 1999 model year cars, a few were built with the original retractable headlights. Two other special edition Diablo's were made, both of which were based on VT 99 Roadster's. The first was the MOMO Edition, the second the Millennium Metallica Roadster. The 12 MOMO cars were fitted with custom two tone interiors featuring body colour coded leather / alcantara covered seats and door inserts as well as four-point MOMO harnesses. Launched by Mario Andretti during the 1999 Running of the Bulls between Beverley Hills and Monterey, some also used special 18-inch MOMO wheels. Last of all the Diablo Roadsters were the 30 Millennium Metallica Roadsters constructed in early 2000. Featuring the shorter SV 99 type rear diff ratio combined with the regular VT drivetrain and an SV type Bevel gear diff, the Millennium Roadster also received a special body colour and black two-tone leather interior and were optionally available with transparent carbon rear wings. |
