If Lamborghini were going to make the LM into a saleable product, it was obvious some fairly major revisions would have to be made. The most significant alteration on the next prototype, the LM A, was to the layout, now a more traditional front-engined configuration. Along with a new power steering system, these developments transformed the scary handling tendencies of earlier incarnations. The switch to a front-mounted engine also freed up plenty of space at the back for a variety of potential uses. Indeed, the LM A was subsequently fitted with a rotating machine gun and lets face it, you can’t get much more useful than that.
