Lamborghini Miura Part 6: P400 Miura SV/R & 'Lambo-Motor AG Spyder' |
![]() |
In addition to the Miura Roadster, Jota and SV/J, a couple of other interesting Miura's have been constructed over the years, one by the factory themselves and the other by Switzerland's then Lamborghini concessionaire. Unarguably the more important of these two cars was the SV/R, built up specially in Sant' Agata for German Lamborghini importer, Hubert Hahne. Unsurprisingly, the SV/R took most if it's visual cues from the infamous 1970 Jota hot rod. |
Re-manufactured around chassis 3781, originally a Green over Mustard Miura S delivered in November 1968, construction began duing the autumn of 1975 and was completed by spring '76. Hahne's SV/R incorporated many Jota and SV/J features plus even a few of its own like an adjustable roof-mounted aerofoil. Output was increased to 400bhp at 8500rpm, just shy of a genuine SV/J, the SV/R uniquely getting knock-off BBS cross spoke alloy wheels shod with the latest-generation Pirelli P7 tyres. Meanwhile, the second particularly interesting Miura was the ex-Lambo Motor AG Spyder. Chassis 4808 was delivered in February 1971 as a Yellow on Black Miura S before being reconstructed by the aforementioned Swiss Lamborghini concessionaire in the style of a targa-topped 'J' car. The suspension was suitably modified to accomodate Pirelli P7 tyres but the most noticeable changes were external. Re-finished in white and fitted with a huge wraparound chin spoiler, an equally imposing adjustable rear spoiler, flared wheelarches and Gotti alloy wheels, 4808 exists today bereft of these somewhat gruesome additions. |

Other alterations included Jota-style air vents on the front lid and behind each wheelarch, an external fuel filler cap and Plexiglas covered headlights. Shown at the 1981 Geneva Salon, Lambo Motor AG's Miura set the rumour mill into overdrive, the motoring press insisting Patrick Mimram was intending to put the Miura back into limited production. However, this never happened even though there would almost certainly have been a niche market for an updated SV. |
