www.QV500.com - Lamborghini Murcielago Part 2: Murcielago 40th Anniversary

To celebrate Lamborghini's 40th birthday, 50 special edition Murcielago's were built during the autumn of 2003. Mechanically identical to the stock version apart from a reworked exhaust, the new version's most obvious enhancements were distinctive carbon-weave engine intake panels, anthracite-coloured wheels and silver brake calipers. Delicate carbon inserts could be found along the upper door mouldings, all 50 cars being finished in Verde Artemis pearl effect paint. Drivers seat bolsters were trimmed in dark grey perforated leather while the passenger items had smooth black hide.

Other changes to the cockpit included an embossed steering wheel and a numbered plaque inside the rear window. Best of all though were special 40th Anniversary floor mats! Finally, each car was accompanied by a personalised certificate and signed carbon fibre suitcase for the luggage compartment. But as interesting as all this was, the car everyone wanted to see Lamborghini produce for its 40th anniversary was a stripped-out lightweight with rear wheel drive and even more power.
